      Mercedes-Benz sells 7138 cars in India during 2012

      Mercedes-Benz India Limited (MBIL) has managed to sell 7138 units as wholesale in the year 2012. Following this, the auto maker has been able to achieve its sale target for the year. The company also maintained a strong brand equity in the Indian luxury car segment, just as it did throughout the world. A segment benchmark was achieved by the German luxury car maker in the range of cars priced above Rs. 30 lakhs.

      The brand's popularity can be demonstrated from the fact that the new M-Class Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is completely booked till May 2013. It was launched in May 2012 and has been declared as a highly successful model. The B-Class has created a new Sports Tourer segment for itself, whereas the S-Class continues to be the top premium luxury sedan in the country.

      MBIL also continues with its aggressive dealership expansion across the country. At present, it is available in 31 cities with 72 touch points. 6 new touch points have been opened in Tier II and Tier III cities. Commenting on the company's performance in 2012, Eberhard Kern, the Managing Director and CEO for MBIL said, “Our sales performance has been overall in line with expectations. At the same time we have managed to retain our profitability and premium in 2012. 2013 would be an exciting year for us. We will continue to delight our customers through an array of fascinating products, engagements and experiences."

      Interbrand, which is one of the world's top brand consultancy has ranked Mercedes-Benz at the 12th position in its annual list of the globe's most valuable brands. This ranking demonstrates the various ways in which a brand touches and benefits a company, such as driving bottom lines and exceeding customer expectations. Mercedes-Benz has proved to be better than its competitors in 2012.
