Eicher Trucks and Buses have recorded a sales figure of 4,032 units for December 2012, which is 20 per cent lower than the records of year-ago period. Evidently, the reason cited blames the ongoing slowdown in Commercial Vehicle (CV) segment. The cumulative 2012 sales of the auto maker stood at 48,262 units, marking a nominal drop of 0.2 per cent against the 2011 YTD sales, which stood at 48,337 units.

The 2012 YTD sales in the domestic market, including Eicher trucks and buses weighing 5 tonnes and above, stood at 45,761 units compared to 45229 in 2011, registering a growth of 1.2 per cent. Buses and heavy duty trucks were acclaimed for this rise. 446 domestic buses were sold in December 2012 compared to 376 recorded during the year-ago period, which indicated a healthy growth of 18.6 per cent. YTD 2012 sales also went up by 31.2 per cent against the previous year (8520 units compared to 6496 units).

December 2012 represented a slowdown in Heavy Duty (HD) truck sales, recording 678 units against 939 units registered in the corresponding month 2011. However, YTD sales for HD trucks went up by 4.7 per cent, selling 7699 units in December 2012 compared to 7352 in 2011.
