It has been a well known fact that Mercedes Benz has indeed been a hot-selling luxury car brand in India. To expand its service in India, Mercedes-Benz India reportedly is planning on building its brand image in the used car market with the launch of a used-car brand in the country. India always has been a strong market in the used car segment and indeed reports have indicated that for every new car sold in the country, a used car has also been sold. Banking on this immense potential, German carmaker has planned on inaugurating a used-car brand in India.
Speaking more on the plans, Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO said, “In two weeks time, Mercedes-Benz India is going to launch a new pre-owned car brand....we will take the next big step in pre-owned car business. 10-20 percent of trading ratio in India is a low figure if you compare globally. For example in Europe, it is one to one," Hinting that the segment is growing really fast he said, "It (Pre-owned car segment) is the next growth story in India's luxury car segment. Customers here are now demanding quality products in pre-owned (segment). Besides metros, our focus will also be on tier II and tier-III cities as these are also getting more important.”
