The country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki has said that it will be adding a number of new passenger utility vehicles in its India portfolio in the coming months in the Indian market.
According to company the sports utility vehicle and multi utility vehicle segments are growing at a very good pace and Maruti is so far has no vehicles in these high growth potential segments. The company has already planned-up to showcase an all new SUV concept and an MUV model at the forthcoming Delhi International Auto Expo.
Speaking to the reporters on Thursday, Mr. S Nakanishi, MD at Maruti Suzuki, said, "There is a vast chunk of market, almost 18% of the passenger vehicles sold in India where we don't have any presence. So, as we aim to regain our market share and take it to beyond 50%, we will introduce vehicles in the new segment that are not in our current portfolio."
In last 6 months, Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has registered a fall of over 5 % in its market share, due to recent strikes at its Manesar plant.
