Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki stole the show at the recently held 2015 International Green Mobility Expo event held in New Delhi, with the all new Swift Range Extender Hybrid. A similar vehicle had also been showcased at 2014 Auto Expo event held in Delhi. The most unique aspect of this vehicle is the impressive fuel efficiency of about 48.2Km/l, with an electric driving range of about 25.5 Kms. For the initial period the vehicle may only be delivered to the government, whereas general public may get to own it at a later date.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Range Extender Hybrid shall be powered by 658cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with permanent magnet synchronous motor that is capable of generating about 73 Bhp. The vehicle would feature three modes namely - series hybrid, parallel hybrid and all-electric. The petrol engine shall also help in powering the lithium-ion battery that powers the electric motor.
The Sift Range Extender Hybrid weighs a mere 1,600 Kg and takes only about 1.5 hours to fully charge the lithium-ion battery via a 200V socket. As part of new features, the vehicle gets infotainment system, remote keyless entry, push start/stop button and rear disc brakes. More details about the vehicle shall be known at the time of official launch announcement made by the company.
