      Maruti Suzuki sales dip 8.8 per cent during June 2011

      The Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has registered a dip of 8.8 per cent in its total sales in the month of June 2011. The company sold a total of 80,298 units during the month as compared to 88,091 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the sales of Maruti Suzuki dipped 3.8 percent to 70,020 units in the month as against 72,812 units sold in the month of June 2010. On the other hand, exports of the company stood at 10,278 units as compared to 15,279 units sold in the same month last year, registering a decline of 32.7 per cent.

      The total sales in the A2 segment (including Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) surged 2.4 per cent to 52,599 units as against 51,418 units in the same month last year. The total sales of A3 segment (including SX4 and Swift Dzire) dipped 60.4 per cent to 3,199 units from 8,081 units sold in same month last year. The sales of company’s Kizashi sedan stood at 32 units during the month. The sales of company’s iconic M800 model dipped 12.8 per cent to 1,823 units as compared to 2,090 units in June.

      The company also indicated that it lost production of 12,600 units during the last month’s13-day long strike at its Manesar plant.
