      Mahindra & Mahindra registers 29 percent jump in sales during June

      The country’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra, on Friday reported a jump of 29.11 percent in its sales during the month of June 2011. The company managed to sell a total of 35,584 units of its vehicles during the month as compared to 27,562 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company managed to sell 33,772 units of its vehicles as compared to 26,243 units sold in the same month last year, registering a sales jump of 28.69 per cent.

      On the other hand, the total sales of the company in the passenger vehicle segment stood at 16,053 units as compared to 13,316 units sold in June 2010, registering a jump of 20.55 per cent during the month. The current passenger car portfolio of the company includes utility vehicles like Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero and entry level sedan Verito. The company managed to sell 1,510 units of its Verito sedan during the month as compared to mere 563 units sold in the same month last year.

      Commenting on the company’s performance during the month, Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Rajesh Jejurikar said, "We are happy with the 29 per cent growth that we have clocked in June, given the pressures of increasing interest rates and commodity prices."
