Alto 800, the brand new entry-level offering from stables of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's favourite passenger car maker, has been breaking all the advanced bookings, sales and delivery records, since its launch on October 16, 2012. Remarkably, the company delivered 111 units of its latest product on November 1, 2012 from a single dealership in Kerala. Evidently, the incredible achievement was realised by MSIL's authorised dealership called KVR Kasargod, situated at the municipal stadium in Kasargod, Kerala.
Reportedly, the company has received till date, over 30,000 bookings of the fresh new Alto 800 entry-level small car. Further, the Indian automotive industry has estimated sales of around 13,000 units of Alto 800 to have been finalised by now, out of the reported advanced bookings.
Evidently, the company announced that one of its Kerala dealership delivered 200 units of Alto 800 in a single day on October 19, 2012. The dealership carried the namesake AM Motors and was situated at Kottakkunnu in Mallapuram district near Calicut, Kerala. According to MSIL, the stupendous feat of its Mallapuram based dealership has made it the first in country to implement deliveries of so many cars at the same time. Considering the incredible success of freshly launched Alto 800 in the state of Kerala alone, it can be said with certainty that Maruti Suzuki has introduced the perfect replacement to fill in shoes of the iconic 'Maruti 800' small car.
Prior to its launch, the Alto 800 was already dubbed by media and top industry boffins to become the next volume puller for Maruti Suzuki in the country. The car has stormed its way quite easily to the core of Indian entry-level car enthusiasts, but such was always expected from a MSIL product in the country. The Alto 800 entry-level small car comes trimmed with a 0.8 litre, 796 cc, 3 cylinder petrol power-mill, which churns out a peak power and torque delivery of 47 bhp and 69 Nm, respectively. The car's boasts off an incredible fuel efficiency of 22.74 km per litre on petrol, while its dual fuel petrol - CNG variant delivers an astounding mileage nearing 30 km per kg. At present, Maruti Suzuki offers the Alto 800 in a price range starting from Rs. 2.44 lacs and going till Rs. 3.56 lacs (all prices in the ex-showrooms of New Delhi).
