      City saloon and Brio hatch propel Honda Cars India Limited towards a happier Diwali with 46 per cent growth in October 2012

      Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL), a subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant Honda Motor Co., is on cloud nine as the company witnessed an astounding surge of 46 per cent in its vehicle sales in the country. In October 2012, HCIL managed to outperform its contemporaries and managed sales of about 8,085 units as against 5,526 units recorded in the corresponding month of 2011.

      Expressing his delight on the sales growth during October 2012, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President (VP), Sales and Marketing, HCIL, said, “Our sales performance in the month of October has been very impressive despite the tough market conditions and we are extremely delighted with the response received to new launches last month. The expansion of export business is also a significant milestone in our journey and we are confident that this will contribute to the growth of HCIL.”

      Further, the Indian arm of Honda has sold a unified number of 43,525 vehicles between first seven months of the ongoing fiscal 2012-13, as against sales of 29,717 units registered in the same time frame of 2011-12. Evidently, the company managed a climb of 46 per cent in the year-on-year (YoY) period.

      Honda Motor Co. is planning a massive export related plans of its vehicles from the production units of its Indian subsidiary - HCIL. The Indian arm is expected to play a major hand in the parent company's export business initiatives across the globe. Evidently, HCIL has already started exporting its popular Honda Brio hatch to the automotive markets of South Africa and South African Development Community (SADC), from October 2012. Reportedly, the company has dispatched some 420 vehicles from Indian shores in October 2012.

      HCIL's major sales propellers on the domestic front have been Honda Brio hatchback and the cult City sedan during October 2012. The company recorded sales of 3,700 units of Brio and 3,976 units of City saloon, while its premium hatchback Jazz, premium Civic and super luxury executive sedan Accord wrapped up sales of 306, 60 and 43 units, in the order of their mention.
