The largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has officially declared that it will launch the Ertiga MPV on 11th April 2012 in India. At the recently held New Delhi Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was showcased by the company which generated huge interest among the prospective buyers. Based on the R-III concept, the seven seater Ertiga has been placed in the high-end multi-purpose vehicle segment.

Maruti Suzuki will disclose the price of this MPV once the 2012-13 Union Budget ends on March 16. Due to the probability of additional excise duty to be levied on diesel cars, the car maker will determine the number of petrol and diesel variants only when the Union Budget concludes. Earlier, during the 2012 Auto Expo, the company had decided to launch the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in three petrol and diesel variants.

Petrol variant of Ertiga will be loaded with a K-14 VVT 1.4-litre engine, which has the capacity to generate power of 92 hp and torque of 130 Nm of torque. As per reports, the diesel variants of the car will have Fiat 1.3-litre multi jet engine. Power generated by the diesel engine will be 86 hp and it will churn torque of 200 Nm. As far as mileage of the car is concerned, the diesel variant is expected to deliver 20.77 kmpl whereas the petrol models may give fuel economy of 10 to 12 kmpl.

As per official reports, the Ertiga MPV will be manufactured at the Gurgaon facility of Maruti Suzuki. Rumours about the launch of this MPV in the Indonesian market after its India debut are also on air. The company is expected to use CKD kits created in India for the Indonesia-spec Ertiga.
