Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the largest car maker in the country, has restored the production of its best selling hatchback Swift to nearly normal levels, as planned before. The company rolled-out 500 units of all new Swift from its second plant at Manesar on Monday. Meanwhile, the striking workers have approached the district administration to resolve the trouble.

It is to be mentioned here that more than 90,000 customers are waiting for their unit of all new Maruti Suzuki Swift to be delivered at their doorstep. The firm plans to increase to production of Swift model to 18,000 units a month.

In a recent statement, the company said, "We have also recruited 50 more ITI -trained workers at the plant, taking the total strength of available workers to over 1,100. This will help the company to bring down its dependence on permanent workers."

Meanwhile, a large number of striking workers on Monday staged a rally, approaching district administration to intervene. The trouble at Maruti’s Manesar plant started on 29th August, after workers refused to sign the ‘good conduct bond’ forced by the company, as compulsory to sign by every worker.

From the workers side, Shiv Kumar, general secretary of Maruti Suzuki Employees' Union, a voluntary body of workers at the Manesar plant, said, "We met the additional deputy commissioner and apprised him of the situation at the plant and submitted our demand to scrap any illegal administrative orders. We are willing to work but will not sign the good conduct bond."

At present, the total output of the firm stands over 12 lakh unit a year, including 8.5 lakh units at Gurgaon plant and 3.5 lakh units at Manesar plant.
