      Maruti postpones plans of launching K series small cars in India

      The country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki said on Monday that it is putting on hold the plans of rolling-out ‘k’ series of premium small cars in the Indian market. The Indian market is a cost conscious market and before launching higher priced small cars in the country, as these cars would carry a price tag of up to Rs 5-6 lakh along with the tax incentives.

      Earlier this month, the company had said that it will launch two K series of cars in the Indian market including MR Wagon and Palette, by the second half of next year. These cars were expected to be placed in competition with Tata Nano in the Indian market. The K series of cars are already available in the Japanese market under the portfolio of small car specialist Suzuki Motors. Both of these cars are receiving a good acceptance from the buyers in the Japanese market.

      The USP of these fully featured small cars is their exceptionally high fuel economy of 30.2 km per liter, which is considerably higher as compared to the fuel economy of the country’s cheapest car Tata Nano that deliver’s 25 km per liter.

      Maruti Suzuki will showcase these K series of cars at the forthcoming auto expo, where it will study the response of the visiting car enthusiasts towards these cars. It is expected that these small cars will be attracting a large number of visitors towards Maruti platform during this auto show.
