The Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that it will launch its much anticipated Kizashi model in the Indian market on the 2nd of February 2011. The new Maruti sedan will be priced at Rs 16 lakh in the Indian market, making it the most expensive Maruti sedan in company’s India portfolio ever.
The car will be imported to the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU) from Suzuki’s base market Japan. However, the company may decide to manufacture it locally once the car strengthens its ground amongst the Indian buyers.
The Maruti Kizashi model was showcased at the Delhi International Auto Expo in the month of January 2010, where it had received an applauding response from the car enthusiasts.
Sporting Suzuki’s state-of-art 2.4L petrol engine the Kizashi model is capable of churning-out a peak power of 185hp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. Though the car is available in both two and four wheel drive versions in the foreign markets, it is expected to be launched in only 2wd variant in India. The powerful engine of Kizashi will come blessed with a six-speed manual transmission.
Kizashi will be fighting for space with the likes of Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic, etc.
