India’s top selling car Maruti Alto is ready to enter the Algerian market. Suzuki will launch the latest Alto K10 model in the country where it already sells the A-Star model as Suzuki Celerio. The new Alto K10 to be introduced in the Algerian market will be quite similar to the Indian variant apart from some minor changes in exteriors like refurbished headlamps and taillights. It will also have the same 1.0L 3-cylinder K-series engine producing 68 bhp @ 6200 RPM and 90Nm torque @ 3500 RPM. Algerian market is quite welcoming to hatchback models and MSIL has definitely found a good market to market its small car models.
Suzuki also sells the A-Star in Morocco as Celerio where it is available in three variants powered by 1.0L petrol engine. The base model comes with power steering while the mid-variant comes with ABS, air bags, fog lamps and seats with better fabric. However, air-conditioning and alloy wheels are present only in the top end variant.
Maruti has also confirmed recently that it will now develop a sub-Polo car for Volkswagen that will be sold in India and other ovearseas markets and will be priced below Rs. 4 Lakh. Volkswagen in turn will lend its diesel technology to Suzuki or even source them for its Japanese partner.
