      Maruti aims to sell 30 lakh units annually in India

      Maruti Suzuki, the largest car maker in the Indian market, is planning to establish its 7th plant in the country. The new plant of the company will be over and above the company’s two new upcoming plants at Manesar. The company is targeting to sell as many as 30 lakh units annually in the Indian market by year 2015-16.

      As per industry sources, the company has already started internal process of setting-up its 7th plant and it is expected to take a final decision in this regard within next one year.

      At present, Maruti has a total manufacturing capacity of 12 lakh units that comprises of 8.5 lakh units annually at the Gurgaon plant and 3.5 lakh units annually at the Manesar plant.

      As per a recent statement given by Maruti Suzuki Chairman R C Bhargava, "By 2015-16, the passenger vehicle market is estimated to be about 5 million units. We would like to maintain our market share to the maximum possible extent and for that we will be selling between 2.5 million units and 3 million units."

      Mr. Bhargava added that If the company runs out of capacities, then it will have to look for something else. But it all depends on how the existing and upcoming capacities will be utilised, which will go on till 2013.
