After achieving an unmatched performance in India, as well as the international markets, Mahindra is planning to bring a petrol variant of its XUV500. This SUV has been extremely successful in the market ever since its launch. This gave rise to new prospects for Mahindra to enlarge its window.
With the latest advancements, Mahindra is working on this petrol variant of one of its bestsellers. It has announced that the focus of their market with this new variant would be South America and Russia. Another technology that will be pooled in with the petrol engine of the expected 2.2L, 140 bhp engine is the automated gearbox, which will be the same as is seen in Land Rover Freelander 2.
Mahindra is planning to give an option of Front-Wheel Drive and an All-Wheel Drive in the vehicle similar to the options available in the XUV500 diesel variant. It is being expected that the launch of these petrol variants would be witnessed in 2015. Despite the lesser demand of petrol SUVs in the Indian market, Mahindra might launch this car in India in 2016.
It is also stipulated that the aesthetics of this petrol variant would remain almost the same as is seen in the previous models. Mahindra is also running some tests on their Scorpio Automatic, an enhancement to the conventional Scorpio. It will be offering a similar m-Hawk engine with manual transmission.
Mahindra SUVs have tasted success at various points of their run and are expected to be the leading automobile company in the market if they keep on providing such high-quality products in the market. Mahindra faces a stiff competition from Renault, Ford and its arch enemy, Toyota, in the field of SUVs. Despite this, Mahindra has been successful in creating a unique reputation in the prevailing market.
