Mitsubishi is all set to introduce the automatic variant of its highly popular SUV- the Pajero Sport in the Indian car market. If media reports are to be believed, the automatic Pajero could hit the Indian shores this month; however, nothing concrete on the same has been revealed.
Currently, the Mitsubishi Pajero is available in one variant, which is a manual version. It is propelled by a 2.5-litre turbocharged CRDi diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 178PS and a peak torque of 400Nm. This engine is paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox which sends the power to all wheels of the SUV.
The new Pajero Sport automatic will sport a 5-speed automatic gearbox which is paired to the same engine; however, the power will be transmitted to rear wheels of the SUV instead of all-wheels. It will be positioned below to the present model, and would attract more buyers. The Automatic variant is expected to be priced around Rs. 21-22 lakh, which is around Rs. 1-1.5 lakh cheaper than the manual version. It will rival against the likes of Toyota Fortuner AT, Ford Endeavour AT and the Ssangyong Rexton RX7 AT.
