Mahindra Two Wheelers, a unit of the country’s one of the most diversified Group Mahindra, on Wednesday inaugurated a mega Research & Development (R&D) facility in Pune. Established with a huge investment of Rs 100- crore, the new Mahindra R&D center in Pune is claimed to be the third largest of its kind in the country.
Moreover, the company is looking forward to invest an additional sum of Rs 500 crore in this facility over the period of next 5 years. The R&D facility will enable the company to design and develop engine technology in-house.
Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of this facility, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman & Managing Director at Mahindra Group, said, "The new dedicated facility, home to over 175 engineers and designers, will enable us to harness the technology of the future to create tomorrow's products. It will allow us to design in India for the discerning Indian consumer. The micro hybrid technology developed for the new Duro DZ is a clear validation of the value it offers the business."
Two brand new engines were also unveiled by the company on the occasion, which have been developed at this facility including a 300 cc liquid-cooled and a 110 cc engine.
