      Mahindra sells 1 lakh units of XUV 500 in less than three years

      Mahindra’s popular SUV, XUV 500 has reached 1 lakh sales unit mark, launched in September 2011, the SUV has accomplished this land mark in a time span of less than three years. Mahindra & Mahindra also sells XUV 500 SUV in other automotive markets such as Australia, South Africa. Besides these, M&M also plans on exporting the vehicle to overseas markets like Europe, Chile and a few others. The ‘Cheetah-Inspired’ SUV has been an immense success that garnered unprecedented bookings after its launch in India. Built on the monocoque frame, the SUV has won many awards and topped the customer satisfaction study in SUV segment conducted by TNS Autmotive India in 2012. During its three years itinerary, the SUV has won a couple of rallies including National Rally Championship (INRC) and Dakshin Dare.

      Sporting a muscular stance and a contemporary design, XUV 500 has an aggressive semblance. The athletic SUV offer capacious cabin and is capable of seating seven adults comfortable inside. Powered by a robust high displacement 2,179 cc mHawk Turbocharged, Direct Injection diesel engine endowed with micro-hybrid technology, the powertrain is capable of outputting a top power of 140 Ho at 3750 RPM and a peak torque of 380 Nm at 1600-2800 RPM. A six speed manual gearbox is mated to the engine that transmits power to front and all four wheels (in W8 AWD variant).

      A string of features are offered on the Mahindra SUV, among the most prominent features projector head lamps with LED parking lights, six-inch colour screen infotainment display, GPS Navigation with touch-screen and audio support, Intellipark, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill hold and descent control side impact beams among others.
