The country’s popular utility vehicle maker Mahindra will soon introduce a new mild hybrid technology in one of its best-selling SUVs, the Scorpio. The upgraded version will carry the 'Intelli-Hybrid' badging and is expected to replace the current micro-hybrid system in the SUV.
The technology in the upgraded Scorpio will have the ability to provide assistance to the engine in addition to the regular start-stop system seen in the past. For now, the new 'Intelli-Hybrid' system will only be offered in a 2.2-litre diesel engine which generates 140bhp of power and 330Nm of torque. Thereby meaning that the potential customers in Delhi will not be able to get one. The new model is also expected to get a larger capacity battery and an integrated starter motor. However, this will not be an all-electric vehicle and offer a mild electrical boost to the engine under certain driving conditions.
The new technological upgrade will help in offering better fuel efficiency in comparison to the current generation. As for the interior, no major upgrade is expected for now. For Delhi, Mahindra will only have the downsized 1.99-litre Scorpio for now. More details about the upgraded version will be known in the coming days.
