The two-wheeler manufacturing subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, Mahindra Two Wheelers, suffered a setback as sales for the month of April, 2015, dropped by a decent number, reports suggested. The firm managed to sell 13,197 two-wheelers in the month of April in 2015, which was quite less than what it had sold in the same period last year. Notably, Mahindra Two Wheelers had sold 15,845 two-wheelers April 2014. According to experts, this decline is a good example how quickly can things change in the Indian automobile market and a firm’s performance in the past does not matter.
Though the quantum of the decline in sales is not huge enough to ring alarm bells, it will certainly be discussed at the managerial and executive levels. According to figures, the 13,197 figure comprised 11,5502 units sold in the country’s domestic market while the rest were sold in international markets.
Despite its late foray into the Indian market, Mahindra Two Wheelers has managed to perform really well in the past couple of years. Its model Centuro, ever since its launch, has enjoyed high popularity and demand due to its pricing, features and fuel economy. On the other hand, its scooter named Gusto has also gotten off to a good start in the Indian market.
