Mahindra & Mahindra, the largest manufacturer of sports utility vehicles is all set to launch some new products in the Indian market. In this financial year, the car maker has attained 22 per cent growth due impressive sales of 200,000 units. Hence, the company expects that demand of vehicles will further increase during the festive season.

According to the president of M&M’s automotive and farm equipment sectors, Pawan Goenka, five new models will be launched by the company. Among these, first will be a mini van, which will be introduced in the first quarter of the next financial year. This hard-top vehicle will be based on Maxximo platform, as per Mr. Pawan Goenka.

The company has already introduced the eight seater passenger carrier version of the Maxximo in 2011, which competes with Tata Ace Magic. This vehicle is kept by M&M in the taxi segment. As per reports, the new mini van will be introduced in the market as a personal passenger car.

According to Goenka, the Reva NXR which is manufactured by Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicle will be introduced by the company in the second quarter of next financial year. During the same period, the new Rexton SUV will also be launched. This car is manufactured by SsangYong M&M’s Korean subsidiary. At the Chakan facility near Pune, Mahindra is currently setting up an assembly unit for the RextonOutside Korea, this will be the first facility of SsangYong.

Mahindra & Mahindra will bring the Rexton in India through completely knocked down route, which will be followed by the Korando C. Once the capacity is ready for Rexton, the car maker expects to sell 500-600 units of this vehicle per month. Customers can find the SsangYong products in the sales outlet of M&M.

The Reva NXR which the company plans to launch soon, will be the second car from the Bangalore-based company. After 11 years of the introduction of its first model, the company is all set to launch a new model from its facility. Reva is the only all-electric car of India, which was introduced by Reva Electric Car Company. This company was later renamed as Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles when Mahindra bought its 55 per cent stake.

In spite of being a new concept, Reva was not successful in attracting maximum buyers due to some limitations like less seating capacity, limited top speed and repeated need to charge the batteriesAs per reports, all these limitations have been removed in the new NXR. Full charged battery can drive the Reva NXR to a distance of 160 km. Compared to the speed of 80 kmph of the previous Reva, the new electric car can attain 100 kmph. Maximum interior space allows four passengers to comfortably seat in the car.

Another most awaited model is the mini SUV of M&M, which will be available during the festive season. As per reports, the price of this car will range from Rs. 5 lacs to Rs. 6 lacs. Towards the end of next financial year, the Verito sedan will be introduced by the car maker in India. This under-four metre model may get 10 percent excise duty benefit. Hence, it is expected that the car will be priced low.

Verito was earlier named as Logan but after the joint venture between Mahindra and Renault (MRPL), when the company brought the Renault's stake, it had to sacrifice the name Logan. Entering the Indian market, Verito will face stiff competition from Tata Indigo CS and new Maruti DZire. Goenka stated, “Then, we also have one or two models of trucks which will be launched during this year. Those are variants on the current models.”
