Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M), India’s largest Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) maker, reported to have crossed the milestone of 1 lac units in domestic sales of its mini truck, Maxximo. On this, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Sector, M&M, P.N. Shah, stated, “Maxximo has firmly established itself with its advanced-technology proposition that offers greater earning, less fatigue, more peace-of-mind and more status to its owner. In the process, Maxximo has raised the bar in the market on power, fuel economy, comfort, safety and style.”

To be precise, the survey conducted by market research agencies, IMRB and TNS, for mini-truck owners revealed that they consider Maxximo to be the number one vehicle on the grounds of advanced technology, power and handling similar to that of a car.

Recently, an initiative by M&M to get in touch with owners of the mini-truck revealed that the vehicle has successfully managed to change the business and the lives of many proud owners of the company in a positive manner. Maxximo is not the only vehicle in Mahindra’s product line-up as there are three more offering based on the same platform, namely CNG variant of the Maxximo, Maxximo mini-van and the Maxximo mini-van VX, which is a hardtop variant with sliding doors.

Commenting on the future of the Maxximo platform, Shah said, “In less than 2 years, the offerings on the Maxximo platform, taken together, have captured 25% of the market. Going forward, we expect this platform to contribute in a big way to the growth of the Automotive Sector’s product portfolio.”

The Maxximo mini-truck is the first vehicle in the world to come powered by the 2-cylinder C2CRDe powertrain, coupled with DOHC technology and 4-valves on every cylinder to generate best-in-class power of 25 bhp. It also features a futuristic cable-operated transmission system to provide an impressive shift quality, which is at par with that of a car, thus, reduce the efforts of a driver.

Maxximo also happens to be the safest vehicle in its segment replete with a frontal crash protector to ensure that the vehicle abides by the strict frontal crash impact code (AIS 029 for N1 category of vehicles). The vehicle is also the first in its respective segment to feature booster assisted brakes along with load sensing proportionate valves, which offer better control during braking.

Maxximo mini-truck also comes packed with a drive-by-wire system that ensures instant response from the powertrain as soon as the accelerator is steeped on, which allows safer overtaking. The vehicle also manages to impress the buyers on style front with its clear-lens wraparound headlights and multi focal reflectors. M&M has carried on applying the great looks philosophy on exterior as well as interiors of the vehicle with a well laid out instrument cluster and trip-meter, which adds to the USP of Maxximo.
