Mahindra and Mahindra is looking to get an excise duty cut of 30 per cent on the Bolero that is produced in Uttarakhand. In a meeting with the state CM, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive, Mahindra and Mahindra discussed this issue.
Mahindra has been producing the Bolero in its Haridwar plant since 2006. The Bolero has been attracting 30 per cent extra excise, despite not being a luxury vehicle. Mr Shah said that the CM will be taking the issue with the centre. The Chief Minister Harish Rawat has assured Shah that he would discuss the matter with the central leaders in this regard. Mahindra’s Bolero has been one of the highest selling UVs for years. This is one of the highest selling UV for Mahindra and Mahindra.
The Chief Minister even stated that Uttarkhand will be offering new opportunities for setting up new manufacturing units in the state. Uttarakhand even has the lowest power tariff plans when compared to other states. Uttarakhand is the new destination for adding manufacturing facilities.
