Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country's leading Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, is planning to expand its footprint in the Indian passenger car market by launching a compact version of its Verito sedan during the upcoming festive season. Earlier this year, the compact Verito was caught testing on the Indian streets and since then, car enthusiasts of the country are keeping a close watch with the proceedings of the yet-to-be launched car.
The Verito sedan couldn't help much the company towards steering its sales in the domestic car market and till date, has found limited number of buyers in India. Accordingly, M&M is aspiring to develop a compact sub-4 metre car on the same platform it used in its Verito sedan, which will cater to the entry-level sedan lovers of the country.
M&M has devised a very aggressive campaign throughout this year and appears obsessed towards consolidating a dominating presence in the Indian auto market. The company launched its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Quanto in September 2012, which has been claimed to be game changer for M&M in the country. The company's courtship with the sub-4 metre compact design is believed to face a reality check, when it launches the compact version of the Verito sedan in the domestic market around November and December months of 2012. It will be interesting to see how the Indian audience reacts to the compact version of Mahindra Verito sedan.
