Maruti Suzuki India, talking about the production at its Manesar plant, which had recently witnessed violence, said that it would return to normalcy by mid-October 2012.

The company has slowly increased production at the violence hit plant, which was locked for a month after the labour troubles in July 2012.

Maruti Suzuki India Chief Operating Officer (Administration) S Y Siddiqui, talking about the matter said, “By the middle of October, normal production will begin from Manesar. At present, production for all models have started”.

The company's popular model Swift and Dzire, apart from SX4 and A-Star are manufactured at the Manesar plant. At present when the plant is not operating at its full capacity, it rolls out about 800-1000 units a day.

After the company lifted the lockout from the Manesar plant on August 21, it had set a target to bring out 150 cars a day from there. Prior to the Violence of July 18, the plant, which has an overall production capacity of 5.5 lac units an year, produced between 1500 and 1700 units a day.

Answering to questions about the steps taken to prevent any such violence to occur again in the future, Siddiqui said that the company is conducting an internal assessment and that it would also look into the report of the special investigation team (SIT) that has been formed by the Haryana government to look into the matter.

Siddiqui was quoted as saying, “By next week, SIT report is expected... We would like to see what was the basic issue, what was the reason (behind the incident). Accordingly, we will decide what counter-measures should be taken by the company after this incident to prevent such things in future”.

"Our curiosity is to know whether it (the SIT assessment) matches our internal assessment and what should we do in future to prevent such incidents," he said.
