Apart from the new car launches the two most anticipated facelift launches slated for festive season include the two poplar SUVs from Mahindra and Tata Motors respectively. From Mahindra’s clan its oldest SUV Scorpio is up for another upgrade. The SUV will undergo a comprehensive tweak that comprise of both cosmetic and mechanical modifications. On the other hand, launched two years ago in domestic market, Tata Safari Storme will get its first makeover. Failed to meet the anticipated sales response, the Mumbai based auto maker aims at striking the chord with customers in India.
Despite being present in SUV segment for over a decade, Scorpio is still a strong contender giving its rivals a run for their money. The latest upgrade is expected to include exterior and interior changes. A revised front featuring redesigned head lights and tweaked rear equipped with restyled tail lamps sum up changes made to the exteriors. Inside the cabin a host of new features such as automatic climate control, rectangular design central consoles, AC vents, steering mounted audio controls for audio and cruise control are likely to be incorporated. Suspension is also reportedly expected to be refined, while under the bonnet the same 2.2 litre, four cylinder engine, turbocharged mHawk diesel powertrain outputting top power of 120 Bhp and peak torque of 290 Nm is likely to be housed as in the current model. Besides the usual five-speed manual gearbox a six-speed automatic transmission is also expected to be offered.
Coming to the Tata Safari Strome facelift, changes will be made to the front profile while rear side is expected to remain unchanged. A tweaked grille and revised front bumper could be placed in the Safari Storme facelift. Cabin is expected to feature revivified dashboard, improved upholstery, a new music system, front-side facing third row with captain seats. Powering new Safari Strome would be the same engine outputting enhanced power output by 10 Bhp at 150 Bhp along with peak torque of 320 Nm.
