      Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol arrives in India for homologation

      Land Rover, the luxury SUV maker, will launch the new Discovery Sport SUV in the Indian car market this year. A couple of months back, the British manufacturer imported the diesel powered model of the SUV in the country for homologation purpose. The diesel version is powered y a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is available in two states of tunes - 147bhp and 187bhp.This engine is coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Moreover, the SUV also has the Terrain Response AWD system.

      Interestingly, the British luxury brand has now imported the petrol powered Discovery Sport to India for homologation purpose. The petrol version of the 5-door luxurious sports utility vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, SI4 unit that churns out a maximum power output of 240PS and a peak torque of 340Nm coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 8.2 seconds and hits a top speed of 199kmph.

      The Land Rover Discover Sport will rival against the likes of the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. The company is likely to launch the top-spec variants of the SUV, which is the HSE model. It is equipped with several advanced features such as dual zone climate control, xenon headlamps, electrically adjustable front seats, touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery for seats and other parts, etc.
