Bikers who had been eagerly for the launch of KTM’s newest adventure bike, the 390 adventure have reason to be worried. As per the reports, this bike has hit the crossroads due to some mechanical problems, which have cast a cloud over its probable release. In an open conversation, KTM, the Austrian manufacturer of two-wheelers has said that the Duke 390 is unsuitable for an adventure platform. Incidentally, this platform is suitable for only naked and sports bikes. It was also declared that no adventure bike on the 390 platform will be arriving as of now from the Austrian manufacturer.
KTM told in an exclusive statement, “From a strategic point of view KTM always considers new developments and for this reason: never say no. But currently such models are not foreseen. From a technical perspective other versions would require a complete different package. The existing layout can [be] used for Naked and Supersport models.”
The 390 Adventure was much anticipated by fans around the world as it was slated to be the adventure bike based on the Duke 390 platform. However, the CEO of KTM was recently quoted as saying that the company is planning to introduce a dual-sport bike. On the contrary, this dual-sport model will be launched on the Duke 390 model. This declaration was enough for the customers to expect a lot of the upcoming model. The internet was ablaze with such anticipatory renderings from the fans. However, all hopes were dashed by the incompatibility of the model on the Duke 390 platform.
There are still hopes that the Austrian manufacturer will come up with a solution for the same. Adventure bikes are the most sought-after in the current generation. When it is based on a Duke model, the combination is just too good to resist. KTM must come up with something to make it best for their global fans.
