The bookings had opened for Kawasaki Versys 1000 few weeks earlier. However, now some pictures have been released of this tourer motorcycle from Japan, which is currently on display at the Pune showroom. This has made it almost sure that the bike is about to be launched soon.
This bike is all set to become the first tourer motorcycle from Kawasaki, after the Z series and the Ninja bikes. The touring segment has become quite popular in the Indian two-wheeler market. Leading company Triumph had introduced Tiger Explorer and Tiger 800XC, which have become immensely popular in the country. The bikes have shown a huge potential in the Indian market.
This model is powered by a 1043 cc engine, which is capable of producing power of 120 bhp and a net torque of 102 Nm. The mill sends power to the rear wheel by a six-speed gearbox. Also, the 2015 models get a KTRC traction control system, which is surely coming on the international models. However, it is not known whether the Indian-specifications model will get this feature. This is mainly because Z1000 did not come with this feature, while Ninja 1000 did. As this bike is a premium tourer model, Versys 1000 gets an adjustable windshield, upright riding position and wide handlebars. These specifications are particularly done provided for allowing riders to go for long rides.
Kawasaki has already started taking orders for Versys 1000, which is expected to start delivering from next month onwards. The price of the bike is expected to be in between 13 lakhs INR and 15 lakhs, because of the Completely Built-up (CBU) route, which is being used for this bike. It is also expected that Versys 1000 will come with one colour option that is black.
