      JLR's small SUV Range Rover Evoque to hit Indian market next year

      The smaller and highly fuel efficient vehicle of Tata's British subsidiary Land Rover - the Range Rover Evoque – is all set to hit the Indian market by the first quarter of next year. According to a recent statement given by Tata Motors’ managing director and CEO, Carl Peter Forster, the car will probably hit the Indian market this year or early next year. Earlier, it was speculated that the car will be rolled-out in the Indian market by mid-2011, the time when it is scheduled to be rolled-out in the global market.

      Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has been working on the development of smaller and fuel-efficient models so that tightened emission norms can be met along with increasing the volume of the production. Range Rover Evoque is basically a luxury-SUV (sports utility vehicle) which is claimed to be offering a high fuel economy of 21 km per litre along with CO2 emissions of 120 g/km.

      After the launch of this small SUV the company will roll-out a small sedan in the global market The small Jaguar car will be taking on with the likes of Mercedes C Class and BMW 3 series and is speculated to be named as Jaguar XS.
