Amidst a strong reaction from the premium segment vehicle makers in the country on the government’s move of increasing the customs duty on CKD (completely knocked down) units, the US based premium segment bike maker Harley Davidson said on Thursday that it is not planning any hike in the prices of its two models to be assembled in the Indian market. It is to be mentioned here that the company is setting-up an assembly unit at Bawal in Haryana.

In a statement given to PTI on Thursday, Harley-Davidson India Managing Director Anoop Prakash said, “We are firm in honouring our commitment to our dealers, customers and enthusiasts across India, and are delighted to announce that we will maintain our current prices on our CKD models, the Iron 883 and SuperLow, for this calendar year."

The company has already announced that it will roll-out SuperLow and Iron 883 models from its CKD assembly facility in Bawal in Haryana. While the SuperLow model has been priced at Rs 5.5 lakh, the Iron 883 model carries a price tag of Rs 6.50 lakh (both are ex-showroom prices). Moreover, the company has 10 fully imported bikes in its India portfolio that are available in the price bracket of Rs 7.50 lakh and Rs 34.95 lakh.
