Jaguar Land Rover, part of the Tata Group, has said that it has started full-fledged manufacturing of its Range Rover Evoque in Land Rover's Halewood plant in Britain.
The company said in a statement that "The new Range Rover Evoque passed an important milestone today when the first production vehicle was driven off the line at Land Rover's Halewood manufacturing plant in Liverpool."
Eying the future, company has increased the workforce to almost twice the currently employed. From the total production, 75 percent of the new Evoque will be exported to over 170 countries which will thus increase the revenue from the UK factory by 2 billion pounds. The company has shortlisted various business strategies to speed up its global SUV business.
Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer Ralf Speth said, "The Evoque is an incredibly exciting vehicle that joins a product range which across both of our brands is the strongest we have ever had and it fits in perfectly." He added that the company has received about 18,000 advance bookings worldwide for its new Range Rover Evoque.
JLR has planned out 40 new product measures in the coming five years and this Range Rover Evoque is one of them. The British luxury marquee is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to expand round the globe. The Tata owned Group is not stepping back when it comes to investment and it is now all geared up to spend 1.5 billion pound in research and development of new models, engines, technologies and vehicle lines annually.
Around 19,000 employees are directly associated with JLR in the United Kingdom while up to 1.40 lakh are indirectly a part of the auto giant through its supply chain, associated business operations and dealer network.
