On this, the ratification of union members with senior authorities is expected to take place any time soon.

Tata Group acquired JLR from Ford Motor in March 2008 against a purchase consideration of $ 2.3 billion and this transaction took place amid global credit crisis. The sales were mainly driven by the new Range Rover Evoque, which was highly demanded in China, US, Russia and England. Reportedly, China accounts for almost a quarter of company’s total sales, which marked a surge of 15.7 per cent against the units delivered in year ago period and therefore, the region has now emerged as its largest market.

JLR operates five production units in the isles and has hired more than 21,000 employees, who all are associated with several unions including the Unite Union. The manufacturing facilities of the company are based in Castle Bromwich, Gaydon, Solihull and Whitley in the West Midlands, and Halewood in Merseyside.
