Hyundai Verna RB is being displayed at the Moscow International Motor Show that begins from 25-29 August 2010. The car has been specifically designed for the emerging markets like Russia and India and is expected to compete against models like Volkswagen Vento. Currently, the model is being produced at Hyundai’s plant in St. Petersburg. The plant will also soon begin production of models like Hyundai Elantra and as per the reports from Russia, initially these models will be sold in Russia and Ukraine only. The car will be available with a choice of two engines – 1.4L and 1.6L engine delivering 109 bhp and 122 bhp respectively.
Hyundai has not revealed its plans about Verna RB for the Indian market. The new Hyundai Verna RB is expected to be built on Hyundai Accent platform in Russia. Both the models pose strong competition to Renault Logan and Ford Focus in the Russian market. For the Indian market, Hyundai has also not revealed whether it intends to import CKD units to be assembled in India or it will build the car on the i20 platform.
