      Hyundai sells 55,670 units in May 2012 attaining 16.6 per cent growth

      Hyundai Motors India Ltd. (HMIL) attained aggregate sales of 55,670 units in May 2012 registering a growth of 16.6 per cent. In the similar period in 2011, the company sold only 47,762 units. Against 31,123 units domestic sales in May 2011, the second largest car manufacturer sold 32,010 units this year pushing the growth rate to 2.8 per cent. Even, export of the company registered increase of 42.2 per cent. Last year in May, Hyundai exported 16,639 vehicles, which increased to 23,660 units this year during the same period.

      Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, "The recent hike in petrol prices has depressed market sentiment, with the macro-economic indicators providing no cause for cheer, the demand outlook doesn't look very bright."

      Segment-wise cumulative sales for May 2012 includes 48,250 units in A2 segment (Eon, Santro, i10, i20), 7,306 units in A3 Segment (Accent and Verna) and 43 units in A5 segment (Sonata). The company also sold 71 units of its powerful Santa Fe this May.
