      Hyundai presents the all new i-Gen i20 in 12 variants in India

      In a surprising move, Hyundai India unveiled the new iteration of its premium hatchback i20 in the national capital. Named the i-Gen i20, it is targeted at the ‘Uber Cool’ auto enthusiasts and will be available in a total of 12 variants. Price of the petrol variants of the new model varies between Rs. 4.73 to 6.65 lacs, diesel variants of the car are priced between Rs. 5.96 and 7.44 lacs, and automatic transmission version costs Rs. 7.67 lacs.

      Talking about the i-Gen i20, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai India, B.S. Seo, commented “The New i-Gen i20 is a bold new offering with stylish looks and a host of unique features. Our extensive surveys indicated that the customer is seeking hi-tech and innovative features, we have incorporated the research findings in the i-Gen i20 to offer a high value proposition.”

      Hyundai i-Gen i20 is assimilated with engines that generate more power than the ones equipped in the predecessor and also perform better. The 1.2 Kappa petrol unit with Dual VTVT system renders maximum power output of 82 hp, while the 1.4 Gamma Automatic petrol motor generates 98 hp of power and 136 Nm of torque. Its refined 1.4 U2 CRDi diesel engine, which is complemented with a 6 speed manual gearbox, is capable of producing 88 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque.

      The South Korean car maker has introduced a set of segment-first features in the i-Gen i20 model, such as rear parking camera with display in the cabin mirror and electro chromic mirror that ensures anti-glare vision while driving at night. Other innovative features present in the car are clean air-clusterioniser that makes sure fresh air is present in the cabin and auto headlight control function that activates the lights as visibility lowers. Rear disc brakes, outside mirror with heated functions, driver seat armrest, supervision cluster and rain sensing wipers are also present inside the car.

      In a bid to enhance the driving experience of the i-Gen i20, Hyundai has included features like smart key with push button start and one touch triple turn signal in the model. Leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, electric adjustable outside mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering, 60:40 split seat with cushion pop-up for optimum passenger and luggage space utilization are also present in the car. The new edition of i20 also has premium 2-DIN CD/MP3 audio system with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity, and audio and Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel.

      The looks of Hyundai’s new i20 are centred on features like glossy front grille, 8-spoke sporty alloy wheels and rear spoiler with integrated stop lamp. Apart from these, the chrome outside door handles and turn indicators on outside mirrors also make the car more appealing.

      Hyundai India has incorporated a set of high end features in the latest version of its premium hatchback in order to ensure total passenger safety. The new i-Gen i20 comes with 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), clutch lock system that stops the car from starting unintentionally and reverse parking sensors. Its unique Smart Pedal System ensures that the brake panel can cancel out the accelerator in case of panic braking. i-Gen i20 also has a speed sensing auto door locking and impact sensing auto door unlocking mechanism that proves useful in saving the car and passengers in accidents.

      With i-Gen i20, Hyundai India has made driving a hatchback more fuel efficient and affordable in the long run. The manual petrol variants of the car deliver mileage of 18.5 kmpl, whereas the diesel engine ensures that the new i20 can travel 21.9 kmpl. On the other hand, the petrol-powered automatic transmission engine will offer excellent mileage of 15 kmpl on Indian roads. All the mileages are verified and certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
