Along with the conventional components of a hybrid system, Hyundai has also eliminated elements like the torque converter, which they found inappropriate for this version.
The reason of eliminating the torque converter was to reduce the weight of the transmission system, thus increasing power and speed. The weight of the transmission system after the removal of the torque converter is equivalent to 130 kg, which includes the weight of the engine. Transmission system is the highest contributor of weight to the car.
This latest Hyundai Hybrid is assured to give an exceptional performance due to the six-speed transmission system fitted in it. To increase the performance, features like lighter torsion damper, the lesser amount of clutch disks causing a decrease in the amount of disk plates and reduction in drags has been enlightened to the surface.
This new version is expected to deliver a torque of 280 Nm at its highest speed in the sixth gear. This high torque, besides the removal of the torque converter along with being environment friendly, makes this car a must buy, and is said to give shivers to the other competitors once launched in the country. Hybrid cars have been able to gather a lot of attention lately. With so much going on regarding the environment friendly machinery, this car will be a welcome change in the Indian automobile market.
