Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the largest car exporter and the second largest car maker in the Indian market, has registered a dip of 1.48 per cent in its sales in the month of July. The company sold a total of 49,667 units of its cars during the month as compare to 50,411 units sold in the same month last year.

The company managed to sell 25,642 units of its vehicles in the domestic market during this month as against 28,811 units sold in the same month last year.

However, in the overseas market, the company registered a jump of 11.23 percent in this month. It exported 24,025 units of its cars to the overseas market as compared to 21,600 units dispatched in the year ago period.

Segment wise, the sales of A2 segment (Santro, i10 and i20) stood at 41,533 units during the month. On the other hand, the sales of A3 segment (Accent and Verna) stood at 7,980 units. Moreover, the company sold 13 units of its premium sedan Hyundai Sonata Transform and 141 units of its recently launched luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) – Hyundai Snata Fe.

Commenting on the company’s performance, HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales), Mr. Arvind Saxena, said, “The July 2011 sales for both the industry and Hyundai Motor India Ltd had been negative. Though customer enquiries have increased, due to the increase in fuel price and interest rates, conversion rate has slowed down.”
