      Nissans Sunny to be launched today

      The Indian unit of the leading Japanese car maker Nissan is launching its much awaited mid-size sedan - Sunny – in the Indian market today. The Nissan Sunny is speculated to be rolled-out in the price segment of Rs 7-8 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti SX4, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Etios and new Ford Fiesta.

      The car is currently available as Nissan Sunny and Nissan Versa in the foreign markets. However, in India, the car will be launched with a new name as the names ‘Sunny’ and ‘Versa’ are already registered with a 50 cc moped and Maruti’s MPV, respectively. The Nissan Sunny was launched in the Chinese market about a few months back where it has been receiving a good response from the buyers.

      The all new sedan will mark the entry of Japanese auto giant in the highly competitive mid-size sedan segment with is currently dominated by the likes of Volkswagen Vento and Honda City. Same as most of the other sedans of this segment, the Nissan Sunny will be launched in both petrol and diesel variants. While the petrol variant will be generating a maximum power of 110 bhp, the diesel variant will be delivering a peak power of 85 bhp.

      At present, Nissan India sells four car models in the Indian market that comprises of compact hatchback Nissan Micra, premium luxury sedan Nissan Teana, luxury sports utility vehicle Nissan X-Trail, and luxury Sports sedan Nissan 370Z.
