Hyundai i20 is one of the most eagerly awaited cars in India. It was unveiled at the recent Paris Auto Show a few days ago. The new hatchback model mostly resembles Hyundai Getz and it is therefore rumoured that the new Hyundai i20 shall slowly phase out Hyundai Getz and add to the popularity of i-series from Hyundai. It is pitted against some of the most popular models like Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta (hatchback), Skoda Fabia and Maruti Swift.
Internationally, the car is available in four engines. It is expected that Indian Hyundai i20 will come with 1.4 litre turbo diesel engine and 1.2 litre petrol engines. Both the engines have 5 speed manual transmissions. It will be built at the Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur facility in Chennai. It will be built for exports as well as domestic demands.
The new model from i-series, Hyundai i20, may hit Indian roads by November or December 2008. The price of the new car has not been disclosed by the company, however, it is expected that the new model will be costlier than the present Hyundai i10 model in India.
