South Korean auto maker Hyundai made the headlines once again when it announced the introduction of i20 active model. Set to launch in the month of March in 2015, this car will be the first crossover from Hyundai to enter the Indian market. Hyundai showcased the design renderings of the i20 Active, which looks like an SUV. The appearance of this crossover model, according to several analysts, will strike a chord with buyers. Its athletic outlook and aggressive side-profile lend a touch of masculinity to the Hyundai i20 Active. This model is based on the Elite i20 model with certain additions to make it look masculine and robust. Experts feel that the appearance of i20 Active will play a huge role in attracting buyers. This car, designed at the automaker’s centre in Russelsheim, Germany, is likely to have a higher ground clearance along with new 17-inch alloy wheels.
In order to compete with the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross Polo and Fiat Avventura, Hyundai has left no stone unturned in the i20 Active. Other new features that can be expected in the new i20 Active include a redone grille, day-time LED running rights, projector headlamps, spherical reflector and fog lights.
Hyundai i20 Active is likely to be available in both petrol and diesel versions, powered by 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engines, respectively. The South Korean manufacturer is consolidating its position in the Indian market and the launch of the i20 Active model will certainly help that cause.
