There is no denying in the kind of potential the Indian car market possesses, which is one reason why so many companies have detailed future plans for it. Despite the current slowdown in demand and continuous decline in the growth rate, analysts have said that the future is quite bright here. Companies seem to agree with this as a number of new models have been launched in 2013. South Korean auto maker Hyundai, the country's second largest passenger car maker, is one such firm, which is working aggressively on increasing its market share in India. In the passenger car market, Hyundai is behind Maruti Suzuki, which leads the segment by a big margin. However, the South Korean auto giant has been reducing the gap slowly and steadily over the past few years.

Hyundai is known for producing top class compact cars, such as i10, i20, Eon and Santro Xing. In its time of operation in India, which is just a few years under two decades, Hyundai managed to strike a great rapport with buyers, who have loved its vehicles. According to reports, the company is hoping to continue the good work and take it forward to benefit the upcoming cars. It must be noted that Hyundai India is expected to launch the Grand i10 in the next few months.

The Hyundai Grand i10 will be slotted between the current i10 and i20 hatchbacks. Powered by a 1.1-litre engine, the Grand i10 is going to be the least priced diesel car ever introduced by Hyundai in the Indian auto market. Sources close to the launch of the Grand i10 have claimed that it will be available in both diesel and petrol variants. Featuring a stylish design, the Grand i10 is expected to come with dual-tone alloy wheels, broader dimensions, push stop/start button, steering mounted controls and automatic climate control system.

According to reports, launch of Grand i10 is the beginning of Hyundai's strategy to further increase its market share. Sources claim that Hyundai Motors completely understands the rising demand of compact cars in India, a big reason why it is launching the Grand i10. Interestingly the current model of i10 will be replaced by the Grand i10 globally whereas both are slated to coexist in the Indian car market. Reports have also emerged regarding Hyundai launching two new models each year for the coming time period. It is being said that after the Grand i10, Hyundai will bring in the Eon 1 and next generation i20 to India. Industry experts feel that the strategy of Hyundai launching a number of hatchbacks is going to work and the firm might be able to reduce the gap between it and the market leader, Maruti Suzuki.

Commenting on the firm's plans, C H Han, Chief Coordinator of Hyundai Motor India, was quoted as saying, "We will continuously introduce one or two new models every year. In the small car space, we should have products in every segment, and it should be one of the best. We are also very strong in bigger car segment already, that's why I think we have a bright future in India and we will continue to build our market share."
