First preview of Honda Vezel at the 2013 Detroit motor show witnessed a group of awestruck audience who simply wouldn't stop admiring the sheer beauty of the new car. During the same year this SUV marked it’s presence-felt in the competitive compact crossover market during an unveiling at the Tokyo motor show. Coined as the compact urban SUV, Honda Vezel is stated to be based on the Jazz platform.
At first-look, the side angle of Vezel looks like a smaller version of CR-V. The car carries a rugged stance and is said to be based on Honda's “Exciting H Design” technique. Roof-line has been given a steeper slope to give this compact SUV a coupe look! Moreover, this compact SUV features an overall length of 4.3 meters much like the City sedan. Rear door handles have been hidden and is similar in fashion to the existing Chevrolet Beat. It is also worth noting that this hidden door handle pattern is the first to be used in its Honda line. The designing is unique with smooth curves flowing from the roof to its boot door. The sides feature aerodynamic lines with horizontal tail lamps which extend from the sides into the door much like the Ford EcoSport model.
Lighting has undergone changes and the Vezel features LED daytime running lamps on the front and rear of the car. Front grille of car is snazzy looking and the sides carry aerodynamic design chiselled flares. At present, the car looks dynamical and more refreshing as compared to other existing line of compact SUV's.
The Honda Vezel features an all black interior complemented with fabric upholstery. Gear lever has been given a trendy look and the driver seat is height adjustable. Moreover, Honda has included new and interesting features in the car such as touch screen infotainment system, touch screen climate control and three-spoke steering mounted controls.
The Honda Vezel is expected to be priced something between 6 – 12 lakh. Post launch, it will be facing stiff competition with Ford Ecosport, upcoming Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha and recently arrived Nissan Terrano. The car is expected to do well in the Indian market and the Japanese carmaker banks heavily on long standing relations with the local population.
