On 15th February 2012, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) resumed manufacturing its cars at the Greater Noida plant in two shifts. The company has decided to work in two shifts to cope up with the loss in production in 2011 due to floods in Thailand and reduce the waiting list.

According to Jnaneswar Sen, Honda Siel Cars India Senior Vice President (Marketing & Sales), “We are delighted to announce that we have resumed two shift operation from today. We will have production of 370 cars per day from today and from next week it will ramp up to 440 units per day. We are confident to achieve peak production output in March 2012. We are thankful to our valued customers for their patience and understanding during these challenging times.”

He further added that the company has been scrutinising the component supply process and is procuring crucial parts from Japan and China. Sen further commented that the company is laying stress on clearing the backlog and ensuring prompt deliveries by collaborating with its widespread dealership network.

More than 6000 Brios that were booked last year are yet to be delivered by the company. The company hopes to clear almost all the bookings for its Brio model by next month, March 2012. Furthermore, it will be working closely with the dealers to improve customer’s experience with Brio and also communicate about the availability of the car.

Jnaneswar Sen stated that “We are hopeful to clear most of the current Brio bookings within March 2012 and deliver cars to these waiting customers. We will also be launching a comprehensive communication campaign to communicate the Brio availability and increase activities at dealerships to enhance touch and feel experience with the car.”

The Japanese manufacturer has already begun rolling out the new edition of its popular sedan Honda City, producing over 1500 units in January 2012. It is expected to start developing its entry level hatchback, Brio, by mid-February 2012 and work on the production of Jazz, the premium hatchback it offers in India, by the end of this month.Make : Honda
