As expected Honda’s first MPV, Mobilio has received an overwhelming response in the form of 5800 bookings within first two days of its launch. The influx of bookings indicates at the curiosity and acceptance for the vehicle in domestic market. However, the company commenced accepting bookings for Mobilio almost two weeks before its launch in India. Hence what we can infer from this trend is spiraling popularity for the MPV in coming time that could lead to waiting period.

With Mobilio, the company has struck a hat-trick that started with launch of Honda Amaze. Launched last year in India Amaze is on verge of touching 1 lakh unit sales mark in India. Honda’s new City has been majorly driving sales of the company for past few months. The sedan’s new avatar was inducted in January this year and has turned out to be segment leader toppling its closest rival Hyundai Verna. Expectations from Mobilio have been high and hopefully the MPV will be able to live up to those expectations, a robust beginning on sales front will give Honda a good start in MPV segment. This might be Honda’s first stint at MPV segment in India, however the company has been offering MPVs in global markets for last two decades.

Mobilio is also available for sale in Indonesia, Honda launched the MPV in Indonesian market early this year in the month of January. Response has been good there also, sales data shows that Honda has sold around 46,000 units of MPV in Indonesia. Start has been impressive in domestic market also, however the actual sales data will be revealed by end of this month.
