Honda has introduced the all-new Accord Hybrid in Thailand and it will be available in two variants. While the ‘Hybrid’ variant will cost 1,659,000 baht, the ‘Hybrid Tech’ variant will retail for 1,849,000 baht (Rs 31.80 to Rs 35.44 lakh).
Honda claims that the new Accord Hybrid will belt out 215bhp in full hybrid mode and can do speeds of up to 120kmph in the electrical drive mode. Power for this saloon will come from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC motor that will work closely with a 1.3kWh battery, two electric motors and a CVT transmission. Fuel efficiency figure for the Accord Hybrid stands at 23.8kpl as claimed by the manufacturer.
A few driving modes have been incorporated to offer optimum usage for the driving conditions. An EV drive mode uses only electric power to get the car moving to speeds of up to 120kmph. Additionally, there’s a Hybrid mode, an Engine drive mode, and a Sport drive mode (for optimum performance). In Sport drive mode, the battery is allowed to generate more output to boost the overall power generated by the electric motor.
With the ‘Hybrid Tech’ variant, Honda has offered a safety feature called Honda Sensing. It uses features such as adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation with lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking system, and lane keeping assist system to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.
Honda cars is expected to bring the new Honda Accord to Indian shores later this year.
