Just a few days after stopping the production of its latest premium hatchback Honda Brio in the Indian auto market, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has now decided to import parts from an alternative location, China. The company will not be suspending the bookings of the car in the Indian market. The company has said that the normal production at its India plants will be resumed in next two-three months. At present, the Honda Brio model is sold in only two markets, including India and Thailand.

It is to be mentioned here that the company was forced to stop the production of the Brio model in the Indian market after the supply of essential components was affected very badly due to massive floods.

While speaking to reporters on the matter, Honda Siel senior vice-president Janeswar Sen said, "We have been trying to source from alternative destinations like Japan and China parts that we now import from Thailand." He added, "The arrangement is almost done and the manufacturing and purchasing teams are putting finishing touches to the recovery plan. Right now we are not making Brio and only producing very small numbers of Jazz. We will start the ramp up of production by end-January."

Besides Brio, the other HSCIL portfolio models that are facing component supply constraint include premium hatchback Honda Jazz that was recently re-launched in India, flagship sedan Honda City, etc.
