The Activa automatic scooter from Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has always been a popular choice in its segment. The impressive sales of over 10 Lakh units in just 5 months has further boosted its success story. The numbers have been so huge that one model alone has contributed to about 51% sale in the scooter segment in India.
The Honda Activa has managed to hold the top position for third time in a row in FY 2015-16. Commenting more on the occasion, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), said, "We are excited to have started the festive season on a high note, with Activa creating a hat-trick as the No. 1 selling 2-wheeler of India for 3 consecutive months. From reactivating the scooter segment in India in 2001, Honda's iconic Activa has slowly started penetration in rural India. Further, with the improvement in rural infrastructure in future we expect that scooter contribution has the potential to go up further."
The Honda Activa volumes have reportedly grown by over 20 times that of the 2-wheeler Industry in April to August 2015. Honda currently sells about 3 models in India – Activa i, Activa 125 and the Activa 3G.
