      Hero MotoCorp workers at Gurgaon plant protest decision to shift

      Tension has been strongly building at Hero MotoCorp's Gurgaon plant where casual workers from the spare parts devision has been protesting the company decision to shift them from Gurgaon facility to Neemrana facility in Rajasthan. Reportedly, workers are protesting this decision as they would receive a lesser wage at Neemrana as compared the existing one at Gurgaon.

      On condition of anonymity, an affected employee said, “The casual workers at the spare parts division here have been asked to either accept transfer to Neemrana plant at much lower wage compared to what we are getting here or take compensation and quit the company.” Currently the Gurgaon facility has about 500 workers in this division and they all shall be affected by this decision. At present the casual employees draw an average salary of about Rs. 11,000 per month and with the shift, they may draw a salary ranging of about Rs. 5,000 - Rs. 6,000 a month.

      Speaking more on the occasion, a Hero MotoCorp spokesperson said, “We are currently in discussion with the workers at our Parts Center, Gurgaon for a smooth transition from the existing facility to the new state-of-the-art Global Parts Center (GPC) at Neemrana. We are hopeful of reaching an amicable solution at the earliest." The new Neemrana facility is stated to be spread over 35 acres and has come to be a reality owing to initial investment of about Rs. 160 Crores.
